If you are thinking of buying a Japanese motorcycle, this news will come to you like water in May since an EU-Japan trade agreement has been signed (Jefta).

This means that the tariffs between Europe and Japan will be reduced and therefore the products that come from Japan will cost less, in the same way that it will be easier for Europe to see its products in the land of the rising sun.

For us this can be translated very clearly: japanese motorcycles could be cheaper.

This agreement will mean the elimination of tariffs for 99% of products traveling from Japan to Europe, and for him 94% of products exported from Europe to Japan. This will have an impact on nearly 600 million people and on 30% of world GDP.

We, as motorcycle lovers, will be one of the beneficiaries since, in the future, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Honda could be cheaper thanks to lower tariffs.

Thanks to the Jefta agreement, the vehicles of Displacement of less than 250 cc will cost 8% less, and those of higher displacements will see their price reduced by 6%.

But the advantages will not only be noticed by us. The European manufacturers could also benefit of an increase in sales thanks to the fact that its products will also be cheaper in Japan.

Thanks to the agreement, in addition, manufacturers will not be forced to carry out duplicate emissions tests pollutants since the norms will be standardized.

Present at the signing of the Jefta were the President of the Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, and the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The first step has already been taken by signing this EU-Japan trade agreement. Now we have to see what the brands do, and if they decide to take advantage of the reduction in tariffs to offer us the cheapest product. We must not forget that, in the end, the one who sets the price is the brand.
