Tony Cairoli: “I am very happy to win the general classification and to race with Clement in the second heat; it was like a few years ago when we were fighting for the title! Today we were going very fast. It is always good to win in Italy, but it is not the same without an audience, so thanks to everyone who supported us from home. We will try to do our best for the rest of the championship. Tim is way ahead, but we will try to enjoy the last two races and see what happens. “

For its part, Tim Gajser of the HRC team had to settle for second overall, just one point ahead, but knowing that he had taken another big step towards his third MXGP championship. and his fourth world title. In the absence of four mnagas, number 243 is 73 points ahead of Cairoli, which means he only needs 27 points from the remaining four rounds, or if he can beat Cairoli by two points in the first round of the next Grand Prix, on Wednesday 4 November.

Tim Gajser: “In general, I am quite happy with how things have gone. The first race was almost perfect, getting the holeshot and then making a hole at the beginning. Tony was pushing, but I managed to increase the lead on every lap and controlled the race to get the win. In the second race he did not have a good start and I had a couple of difficult moments in the first lap as I struggled to make up for lost time. In the end I got the fourth position, enough to be second overall. However, it was a good result and there are still four rounds to play, so I will stay focused and try to do my best.

MX2: Vialle closer to the title than ever

Tom Vialle made his eighteenth holeshot of 2020 at the start of the first MX2 race and during the opening laps he had some exciting overtaking with his championship rival Jago Geerts. Thomas Kjer Olsen eventually won the race, but Vialle took second place by just over a second from Jed Beaton with Geerts in fourth place. In the second heat, Tom was in control for 11 of 19 laps but a slight error in the corner at the end of the pitlane left him in third place where he remained until the checkered flag.

Now, with two rounds to go and with a maximum of 100 points at stake, Vialle has an excellent chance of securing the 13th KTM title in the MX2 category since 2004. The 19-year-old could be the third Frenchman to win the crown for Red Bull KTM and the 9th different rider with the KTM 250 SX-F.

Tom Vialle: “It was a good day for all of us. I was very angry with myself for that little crash in the second race because I felt so much better compared to the first. Losing the GP like this has been frustrating. Anyway, we have two more GPs to go. I was thinking about the championship last week and also after today’s race, but when I’m on the bike I’m very focused. I enjoyed the track, so that was also something important. “

MXGP stays in Trentino this week. The Pietramurata Grand Prix (Wednesday, November 4) and the Garda Trentino (Sunday, November 8) will close the 2020 campaign in the coming days.
