If the RS 660 is proving to be a success, the Aprilia Tuono 660 will not be left behind. The RS was shown as a concept at EICMA 2018 and as a final version at last year’s edition. In the case of the Tuono 660, it was exhibited as a prototype at Milan 2019, at the same time as the production version of the RS, and we should have seen its production version this fall, although the cancellation of the EICMA 2019 prevented it.
Diego Graffi, CEO of Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd – Piaggio’s division in India – announced that in mid-2021 the RS 660 and Tuono 660 will be presented in the giant Asian country. The first is already in European dealerships, and Since the novelties of the Noale manufacturer always arrive a few months earlier in the Old Continent than in India, it is logical that we see the Tuono this spring.
The queen of curves
As we already know and as with the V4, the Tuono is basically an RS 660 without the screen (but with fairing sides and spoilers) and a flat handlebar instead of semi-handlebars, with a more comfortable position and more suitable for use. on the road or in the city.
It shares with the sport the chassis, swingarm and engine, the latter with 95 hp instead of 100 hp -to achieve an even flatter response-, and surely the same sophisticated electronics.
A few months ago we showed you the patent drawings of the final version, which hardly differed from the prototype seen in Milan last year.
If the RS 660 has already proven itself to be an excellent supersport in any environment, the Tuono 660 may be the ultimate weapon on curvy roads, thanks to its low weight, its impressive twin-cylinder and a driving position even more favorable for mountain roads.
Hopefully this trend of Aprilia to present their bikes in Europe before doing so in India is confirmed and we will see the Tuono 660 very soon.
