It has been between us and the Yamaha Tracer 700 It has become a truly popular ‘all-purpose’, due to its tremendous versatility: it serves both for urban trips, as well as for duo trips with luggage, as well as for making curves.
As we know, if the Tracer 900 starts from the MT-09, the 700 uses the base of the also very popular MT-07, with its engine 689cc parallel twin with the crankshaft set at 270º, that is to say, that in practice it works like a V engine. 75 hp at 9,000 rpm and a torque of almost 7 kgm at 6,500 rpm, so it is always full at any speed and is a big part of its charm.
If the fork is the same as the naked one, the rear suspension has a longer travel, exactly 142 mm; the swingarm is also longer than the naked one, so the wheelbase is also greater. With all this, stability and comfort are gained. For the latter, a higher handlebar than on the MT-07, its dome, small but adjustable with tools, its seat with more foam and lower footrests also contributes to the latter. As for brakes, two 298mm discs with conventional 4-piston Sumitomo calipers and ABS.
The instrumentation is totally digital and has everything you need, such as a gear indicator, fuel level, time clock, consumption, etc.
This is how the Yamaha Tracer 700 goes
The suspensions have a somewhat more consistent adjustment than on the MT-07, and between that and their longer travel, they are more effective, providing greater stability and reading the asphalt better.
As for the brakes, they are correct, with good feel and enough power. ABS is somewhat intrusive on the rear wheel, something common in bikes that are not of the ‘top’ category.
The first feeling you get when driving the Tracer 700 is that it makes things easy for you: it is intuitive, agile and stable; the engine is pushing hard from below, but it also has a high zone that allows for a distinctly sporty ride, especially when using low gears. The 7 kgm of torque pushes hard in any gear.
Travelers will appreciate that the range is about 350 km, thanks to the 17 liter tank and its low consumption. Also that the footrests for both have rubber, and that optionally suitcases and top case can be mounted, as well as a power outlet to mount a GPS or charge the mobile, or a larger dome.
The price is very tight and is one of the best in its category, with € 8,299. A motorcycle for everything, that works well in any medium and at a price that does not go up.
